How MAYAN ALFA handles personal data.
This notice explains how personal data is handled across the public website, direct contact, and the supporting services used to operate the project.
The current scope is intentionally small: public information, archive navigation, and direct email contact.
Controller and contact
MAYAN ALFA is run by David Hess. Use david.hess@mayanalfa.com for privacy requests, access requests, correction requests, and any other data protection question.
What we may process
The site may process information you send in email, basic technical logs from hosting, and limited metadata needed to keep the public site secure and available.
Why we process it
We use that information to answer messages, operate the website, keep the archive and validation pages available, and protect the service from misuse.
Retention and sharing
Data is kept only for as long as needed for the stated purpose or as required by law. If hosting, mail, or preservation services process data on our behalf, only the minimum necessary information should be shared.

- Right of access Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification Ask for inaccurate or incomplete data to be corrected.
- Right to erasure Ask for personal data to be deleted where the law allows.
- Right to restriction Ask for processing to be limited in certain situations.
- Right to data portability Receive data in a reusable format where applicable.
- Right to object Object to certain processing based on your situation.
- Right about automated decisions Not be subject solely to a decision made by automation.
